How to Install Skins for Xfer Serum
To get started, go ahead and download the skin archive, then unzip it. Make sure the skin files are not nested inside another folder within the 'Skins' directory. Once you have the files ready, open Xfer Serum in your DAW (Ableton, FL Studio, Logic Pro X, etc.).
1. Menu > Show Serum Presets Folder
2. Place the new skins in the 'Skins' folder
3. Menu > Rescan Folders on Disk
4. To apply the skin, click the Serum logo on the top left of Serum and select it from the list
5. To load it every time you start Serum, click the Serum logo > Set Current Skin as Default
Enjoy! 🤘
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully install a custom skin for Xfer Serum on both macOS and Windows.
Troubleshooting Tips
• Skin Not Appearing: Ensure that the skin folder contains all required files and is not nested within another subfolder. It should include essential directories like '1x' and '2x', along with additional necessary files. The structure of a typical skin folder resembles the screenshot below, and it should be located within the 'Skins' directory found at:
macOS: ~/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum Presets/Skins/
Windows: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\Skins\
• DAW Restart and Computer Reboot: After placing the skin files, it's often essential to restart your DAW to ensure Serum recognizes the new skin. Additionally, a simple computer reboot can sometimes resolve any recognition issues with the newly installed skin.
